午夜时分,在信王府附近巡夜的刑部总捕头白墨宸,突然看见一名盗贼背着一个盒子从王府逃出,便奋起直追。白墨宸与盗贼一番打斗,过程中白墨宸削掉了盗贼的一撮头发,盗贼仓皇而逃,遗失了一个宝瓶。白墨宸叩开信王府大门想了解情况,反遭王府黄总管讥讽,白墨宸败兴而归。次日皇上突然指明三日后让信王爷带着木鸢觐见,信王来到库房查看发现木鸢丢失,急招来白墨宸与杨元准二人前来探案,若找不回来,恐有祸事降临。
