20世纪70年代末80年代初，无码中国大地百业待兴。某工厂高级焊工老铁（李幼斌 饰），无码为人耿直、业务精湛，全厂上下都对他甚为折服。他先后收了两个徒弟，谢思雨（吕行 饰）和欧阳水（郭家铭 饰）。谢为人沉稳，但心机颇重，欧阳则忠厚老实，乐于助人。偶然的机缘，老铁还收了令他颇为头疼的小徒弟许风（夏雨 饰）。许风的父母在他很小时便远赴非洲援建，由于疏于教导，因此许风有如脱缰野马，惹祸不断。后来父母在非洲牺牲，许风被特招入厂，却依然不见消停。即便成为老铁的徒弟，他和两位师哥乃至师傅之间也经常发生摩擦。岁月流逝，这些质朴的工人上演着各自的人生悲喜剧……

From families forced to flee war and persecution, to economic migrants searching for a more prosperous life, the series will feature the journeys of over 70 people filmed in 26 countries. Keo gave cameraphones to migrants so they could capture some of the most perilous parts of their journeys that couldn’t otherwise be filmed, resulting in a series which offers a unique and extremely personal insight into the largest period of migration in Europe since the Second World War.
