回复 :胆小且温柔、出身于武士家庭的新海一马（冈田健史），剑术不行也拿不了刀，平日靠在私塾教普通百姓维持生计。小时候曾被妖怪救过的他，对妖怪存在一事，深信不疑，所以也坚持做着妖怪的研究。一日，他在一座废屋里，看到平日帮他管教其他学童的小雏正在和一个神奇的土器说话，当一马接过小雏给他的勾玉时，土器突然变化，跑出一名叫做天之邪鬼（本乡奏多）的妖怪。这一切，都因为小雏想见到亡母，并和她道歉。在小雏的拜托下，一马和天之邪鬼等其他妖怪一起行动，帮她如愿。
