斯科蒂随改嫁的母亲来到了人生地不熟的小镇，春暖八个小男孩经常在小镇的一块废弃的操场打棒球。斯科蒂和八个小男孩中的头儿——球技高超的本尼交上了朋友。性格腼腆，春暖对棒球一无所知的斯科蒂在本尼的帮助下，渐渐地融入了这个集体，同他们建立了兄弟般的友谊。就在那个夏天，就是那段友情，成了孩子们心中永远的回忆。
