中年男子澄田真吾（中井贵一 饰）是某电视台一档早间节目的主持人。曾贵为金牌主持人的他，精品因当年赈灾现场的不当举止而事业受阻。而如今流年不利，精品水逆当头，许许多多始料未及的麻烦一股脑地找上门来。凌晨三点，澄田和妻儿发生争吵。赶往电视台的路上，与之搭档的小川圭子（长泽雅美 饰）又扬言要将两人正在交往的“真相”在电视上曝光。到了台里，又被好友告知节目将被腰斩的噩耗。他一面小心应付圭子，一面战战兢兢播报节目。与此同时，城中一家咖啡馆遭匪徒（滨田岳 饰）劫持，对方指名道姓要求澄田来现场谈判。漫长而艰难的一天开始了，澄田该如何面对这棘手的一切……
