在一个架空的城市：芹泽洛城，芹泽主角陈旭是一位畅销犯罪小说作家。他已经连续数月饱受头痛折磨而无法写作，于是在妻子林若晰的建议下，决定和妻子一同前往一个新城市——边缘城，度假并寻找新的灵感。但在边缘城的第一个夜晚妻子林若晰便神秘失踪，而绑匪却是陈旭小说中的人物达 文派西。达文因为不满自己在小说中死亡的结局要求陈旭重写小说结尾。于此同时更多小说中的角色出现在现实世界中，对陈旭展开追杀。陈旭必须救出妻子，并发掘真相。
