上世纪初，刺杀军阀混战，刺杀世道离乱。作为连接大千世界的重要枢纽，十里洋场更是一个鱼龙混杂、黑白颠倒的所在。生活在最低层的码头工人林四海（刘家辉 饰）终日劳苦，不见出头天，但是脑筋活络的他抓住一个千载难逢的机会。他凭借三寸不烂之舌帮助军阀出特派专员郑志成（王戎 饰）脱险，从而得以脱离底层，成为一名警察，后凭着脑瓜灵光成为局长的副官。欲望已被勾起，林四海无法停止脚步，他寻机拉拢警长下水，自己则成为黑白两道通吃的头面人物，与大家姐梅宝（楚湘云 饰）雄霸码头，风头无量。正所谓天下大乱，遂使竖子成名本片根据江之南的原著改编。

回复 :杨·南曼奇在捷克新浪潮的地位，类似于雷奈在法国新浪潮一样。这是他的第一部剧情长片，描绘两个犹太男孩在被送往死亡集中营的途中，从火车上逃脱，被迫在乡野展开挣扎，艰难地求生存的故事，看似具备写实的基础，却被混合了幻想的影像，以及自由跳跃的叙事所重组。

Clamen <clamen@cs.cmu.edu>In 1865, during the siege of Richmond, Virginia, the union soldiers POW Captain Harding, Neb and Herbert escape in a balloon during a storm with two confederate prisoners, Sergeant Pencroft and the journalist Spilett. The uncontrollable wind takes the balloon to a mysterious island in the South Pacific in the area of New Zealand. Captain Harding self-proclaims the leader of the group and they look for food; sooner they discover that they are stranded in an island. Further, they are attacked by a giant crab that becomes their first meal. Along the days, they build a shelter and finds that the island is inhabited by giant animals. A couple of days later, they find two castaways on the beach, the aristocratic Lady Mary Fairchild and her sexy niece Elena. Later they find a trunk with weapons and instruments like sextant and shelter with a journal of a man left alone in the island by pirates. When the pirate vessel arrives in the island, they are helped by Captain Nemo of the Nautilus, a submarine that had supposedly sunk in the coast of Mexico eight years ago.
