1989年峨眉电影制片厂影视公司、天天汕头音像总公司联合录制，天天汕头音像出版社出版发行。该剧主要描述在历史上著名的马嵬坡兵变中，杨贵妃被救，逃往扬州，东渡日本以及唐明皇与杨贵妃的爱情故事。该剧一反“女人是祸水”的传统观点，洗去了压在杨贵妃身上的历史沉冤，给唐明皇和杨贵妃作出了新的评价。
