玉茗格格（李小冉 饰）深受父皇乾隆（许文广 饰）喜爱，古镇她在宫里天不怕地不怕，古镇只怕一种东西，那就是毛毛虫。玉茗无事在民间闲逛，结识了几个年龄相仿的伙伴。随着年龄增长，格格喜欢上了上官锦弘（卲峰 饰），但她做梦都想不到上官竟是她同父异母的哥哥，这是当年父皇一夜风流欠下的孽债，两人自不知情，兀自真诚相爱。乾隆得知宝贝女儿爱上了上官锦弘，龙颜大惊，设计将玉茗许配给和珅之子殷德（苗海忠 饰）为妻，遂向玉茗道出实情，玉茗闻言芳心俱焚，拉着上官跳崖殉情，不料殉情未果，玉茗成了疯子，上官则失去了记忆。不久，宫里传来流言蜚语，和珅之子殷德竟是乾隆的私生子......
