贝奇（蕾斯拉·德·奥利维拉 Laysla De Oliveira 饰）和哥哥卡尔（艾弗里·维提德 Avery Whitted 饰）驱车行驶在公路上，草莓半途中，草莓已经怀孕的贝奇感到非常的不舒服，于是下车休息，此时听到路边的高草丛里传来孩子的呼救声，循着声音，贝奇和卡尔先后走进了高草丛中，哪知道就此踏入了地狱的大门内。高草丛仿佛一个有生命的恶魔，吞噬着一切误入其中的生命。在高草丛里，贝奇遇见了同样迷失在此的罗斯（帕特里克·威尔森 Patrick Wilson 饰），这个男人虽然仪表堂堂，却散发着危险的气息。贾维斯（哈里森·吉尔伯特森 Harrison Gilbertson 饰）是贝奇的男友，在女友失踪后，他踏上了寻人之路。

Soviet soldiers invade Hungary and drag every young woman with German origins away from a small village and transport them to a Soviet labor camp where they are forced to work in the coal mines under inhuman conditions. This is where Irén, one of the Hungarian women, meets Rajmund who decides to teach her how to survive. While she is determined to return home to her little daughter and family, history and fate have a different plan: Irén and Rajmund fall in love.
